When it comes to doing high quality SEO work, it’s no mystery that content is key. Hence, we, as Denver SEO experts, still stand by the mantra of “Content is King.” As an avid reader of anything from magazines, to novels, to blogs, to local and global newspapers, I can personally attest to the need for quality content to grasp and hold my own attention, especially during this age of persistently streaming information and instant gratification. Although eloquence and lofty language still have a place in certain types of writing, they by no means have any business on your webpage if you’re looking to increase your traffic and hold your visitors’ attention.

Of course, there’s no way to make your content appeal to everyone. However, keeping a few things in mind can only help boost your PR, increase organic traffic from search engines, and prevent visitors from clicking out of your site within mere seconds of arriving.

To begin, you might be surprised, but your readers can tell whether or not you are passionate about what you’re writing. As bloggers, web content writers, and SEO company employees, we’ve all been in a situation when the content that is spewing from our fingertips and onto the screen is obviously good for nothing more than filler. There’s no shame in this, but I think it’s safe to say that the quality and time put into your content will ultimately translate to the quality of visitors your page receives and the amount of time these visitors spend browsing. Clicking onto a page with poor content is no fun for anyone, and making filler content a habit is a sure fire way to lose the interest and return visits of potentially loyal readers.

On the flip side, your content should not be such that readers need to trudge through mounds of information, facts, opinions, etc. to get to the core message of your blog, site, page, company, or brand. Precise and efficient visual formatting is key to arranging content that visitors will find enjoyable to read. I don’t know about you, but stumbling onto a page with a 500+ word block of text is an immediate deal breaker for me. As with nearly any type of writing, good paragraph breaks and transitions are key to engaging with your readers and providing them with the direction necessary to effectively receive and understand your message.

Finally, and perhaps this goes without saying, make sure your content is as original as possible. The era of article spinning, if it ever was actually en vogue, is long gone. With so much garbage littered along the information super highway, it shouldn’t be hard to make your content stand out, so long as it is, in fact, your content. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t borrow ideas and opinions from others’ relevant content, but if you’re doing more than a little paraphrasing, providing a link to the source(s) of your idea(s) can only increase the integrity and reputation of your web presence.

Remember, these are only guidelines to producing top notch quality web content, and every writer will encounter certain obstacles that call for his or her own creative solutions. Yet, whatever the obstacle, moving forward with passion, precision, and originality is one thing we can all strive toward.
